Hydrological Structrues︎︎︎

Type: Pavillion
Location: Bend, Oregon
Year: 2025

Status: Unbuilt

A series of hydrological structures designed to reshape human relationships with their environment while addressing water scarcity and habitat loss in rural grasslands, riparian zones, and forests.

These low-tech sluices and dams mimic natural processes to replenish aquifers, mitigate drought, improve water quality, and reduce flooding.

Built from prefabricated mass timber panels and precast concrete pipes and culverts, they can be quickly assembled with minimal engineering.

Timber decomposes to support habitat restoration, while concrete elements are reusable. The project demonstrates architecture’s capacity to engage environmental challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration.
